International Women’s Day is celebrated globally on March 8 as a focal point in the women’s rights movement. IWD gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, violence and abuse against women.
Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist reportedly once explained “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organization, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.
The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality
As we celebrate International Women’s day, let us:
celebrate women’s achievements
educate and awareness raise about women’s equality
call for positive change advancing women
lobby for accelerated gender parity
fundraise for women-focused charities
