February is Black History Month
” Happy “
February is Black History Month, a time to honour and celebrate the diversity,
history and culture of Black people in Canada and to acknowledge the many
everyday contributions of Black communities from across the country.
This month, we honor the profound contributions, resilience, and richness of
black culture. We recognize the struggles, sacrifices, and triumphs of black
individuals and what they have accomplish.
Let’s celebrate:
The achievements of Black leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
The vibrant art, music, literature and traditions that enrich our world.
The courage, and perseverance that have shaped the fight for equality and justice.
Let’s also acknowledge:
The ongoing struggles against systemic racism, inequality, and injustice.
The need for continued education, empathy and action.
Together, lets:
Amplify Black voices and stories.
Advocate for equity, inclusion and justice.
Recognize the transformative work of Black Canadians today and give visibility to the people
and organizations creating meaningful change.
Let’s show love, give love and be loved as the great legend Bob Marley would say,
One love! One Heart, let’s join together and feel all right.
In solidarity,
Cupe 5441 Executive Team, Stewards, Trustees and the Equality Coordinator.
