Bill 124 Wage Re-opener Award

Dear Service and Clerical Bargaining Unit Members

We as Executive Board Officer’s are proud to announce that Arbitrator Kaplan’s award for Bill 124 came out today.

Concerns that were brought forward:

1. General Wage Increases
In addition to 1% for each year 2022 – 2023 that was given to us under Bill 124, today our Central Bargaining has awarded us with the following:

2022 1% (December 2022 Already Received) + 3.75% (June 13, 2023)
Retroactively paid out from September 29, 2021 – September 28, 2022
2023 1% (December 2022 Already Received) + 2.50% (June 13, 2023)
Retroactively paid out from September 29, 2022 – September 28, 2023
Total = 8.25%

2. RPNs
In addition, to the 6.25%, effective today Arbitrator Kaplan has also awarded our RPNs a much deserved $2.00 per hour wage increase.

3. Call Back Premium
Effective June 13, 2023 is increased to double time

4. Shift and Weekend Premiums
Effective date of award increase by $1 for shift premium, and $1.50 for weekend.
Parties to amend CUPE central agreement to ensure that both premiums paid if both shift and weekend are worked. Any superior conditions maintained.

5. Health and Welfare Benefits
Increases to Massage at $375 per year and Vision to $450 every 2 years

We would like to thank everyone who has signed our Joint Action Petition forms that we are working together with ONA and LiUNA Local 3000. If you have not signed it, we are still going around in preparation for our Summer Protest for BETTER BARGAINING AND BETTER WAGES. Remember this is not the end! Doug Ford has filed his appeal and wants Bill 124 reinstated, and his hearing date is June 20, 2023. But this is just the beginning! We are and will continue to fight for better wages and better benefits. We need your continual support we will continue to bargain for better wages throughout the summer and into the fall.

We are very proud of the mosaic that our local is made of and we are proud of our membership, together we are one! Together we will succeed!

Sincerely,

Your Executive Board Officers
CUPE L. 5441
